Kilmainham IMMA

  Lady in the Lillies

Farewell to the Red Coats

Loved the Moderns Exhibition today in the IMMA - what amazing work. So sorry that I hadn't gone to see it before today. The first image above was done from an image and the second from a poem on a wall downstairs. Was trying out a new brush pen - which I found isn't really my cup of tea, can't get any detail in - but it was fun to try and very quick - as I spent most of my time browsing the exhibition and did these two in the 30mins before we all met up again in the cafe!

'Dune Grass'

Paint Out with SEPA in Curracloe Beach, Co. Wexford. Beautiful spot, fabulous sand and of course great weather in the sunny South East! Fooled around with a few paintings but ended up back with a pen in my hand, like how it turned out too.

'Bob away'

Done on the Paint Out in 'The Safe', Rosslare Harbour. A fantastic day with beautiful weather, great advice and company. Thanks to all in SEPA for a truly great event.

'Street View'

"Street View" [Sold]

Second day of the Art in the Open festival in Wexford town. Set myself up and struggled with the straight lines as per usual, but it was all worth it and had a serious celebration that night after selling it in the Exhibition. Loved the viewpoint and the juxtaposition of the different buildings down the little street, hope to do another painting of it in my black and white sometime soon!

'Between Showers'

"Between Showers" [Sold]

Done on my first day at the Art in the Open festival in Wexford. Got absolutley drowned wet, dried off and sat back at my easel to finish it off! Really enjoyed the day!

For Dad

It's my Dad's birthday next weekend and he's off to climb the Matterhorn, again. Always so nervous when he's away on these trips, but it's his thing. The solitude of climbing along the ridge of a mountain I can only imagine. Though going by the way his eyes light up as he tells us of his trips, that solitude sounds incredible.

Painted using acrylics and goache on acrylic paper.

Phoenix Park 11th April

Done with red oil pastel and gimpy markers! Very annoying to work with, turns out marker can't go over oil pastel and it's very messy!!

Lady in red..

Couldn't go sketching today with the Sketchers, so did a little bit at home from a magazine.. kept me occupied for a while! I've uploaded the early stages for reference and a shot before I filled in the dress with a nice bright red marker!

Africa Day - Iveagh Gardens 24th May

What an atmosphere! Such vibrant colours, huge smiles and fantastic music - a great festival all round. The weather also helped of course but it really did make me appreciate the simple things in life.

Bodies Exhibition

Really enjoyed the exhibition, great opportunity! Found it very hard to sketch, the detail and the subject matter proved too much for me!
